Did you know, according to a push poll, that most Americans actually SUPPORT the immigration reform?

Read the first section I’m told by another poster:
“Most Americans support central elements of the legislation overhauling U.S. immigration laws. ”

Ok which elements might those be? How come the writer of this article fails to mention that important little fact? Those that are against this bill will find several elements in it that they do approve of. Everyone who reads this post will agree that we seek LEGAL immigration. Nothing more nothing less. Hmmm…could that be what elements the writer refers to? Funny they don’t specifically state such.

“A new Bloomberg/Los Angeles Times poll shows that at least a plurality of Americans backs the two most contentious provisions of the bill, a proposal to offer 12 million undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship and the creation of a guest- worker program.”

Could these be the elements the writer speaks of in the first paragraph? Possibly but again the writer will not say specifically.
I won’t speak for everyone. However I think it would be safe to say that most do not have a problem with offering 12 million documented immigrants a path to LEGALLY ENFORCED citizenship. Funny again the writer leaves that part out.

“In general, those surveyed are sour about the way the country is going.”

Why specifially are they sour? The writer never mentioned that. Is it purely from the immigration bill? The war in Iraq? A combination. Simply we will not know since the poll does not specify. If it did the writer does not produce those specifics but would rather you believe it is purely because of immigration reform.

Push polls. You make up your own mind about them. I certainly have.
The only truth being silenced is that of the persons who where polled as this article simply does not provide the specifics of how they were questioned. Do you think the fact that they left out the specific questions in this article is pure coincidence? If not where are the specific questions?
I’m certainly not saying the results of this poll are correct nor incorrect. I’m simply pointing out how flawed a push poll can be. A poll can be pushed in either direction to one’s satisfaction all depending on how the questions are asked and how the results of those questions are presented.
alienwaltz5. Last time I checked it was a question. Can you read a headline? “Did you know, according to a push poll, that most Americans actually SUPPORT the immigration reform?” Or do you just talk “smack”?
RB.
A push poll is a political campaign technique in which an individual or organization attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll. There ya go. Any more questions?

They are. I got this information from the L.A. Times originally, and it linked the those two statements. As I don’t have an internet subscription with the Times, I couldn’t link the article.

    Nice try.

Go ahead and thumbs down me. Go ahead and silence the truth. Typical cons.

OK, like it or not, this bill will pass both houses and the president will sign it. Disagree, try to discredit, in the end it doesn’t matter. This bill will pass.

NO they do not, it’s called government propaganda.

Why would Most Americans be ok with criminals taking jobs, benefits, education, destroying the environment, crime, drugs, etc etc?

    America IS fighting back.

This is not a push poll.
Pretending thiere is something sinister about the poll because someone referring to it did not give you all the detail you want is a cheap trick.
The details are there. It is scientifically valid and was conducted by reputable polling company and a reputable newspaper.
Here is the poll. If you had bothered to look it up instead of trying to create a controversy that simply isn’t there you could see that the poster you refer to (but do not cite with a link – I wonder what you are hiding) was merely stating the truth.
